Humiditrol Dehumidification System for Rooftop Units

Features and Benefits

Better Application Solution

  • Maintains ASHRAE 62-2004 fresh-air requirements while controlling room humidity levels.
  • Dehumidification cycle is activated based on humidity levels, not temperature, for better control.
  • Available only on Energence™ rooftop units.

Single-Compressor Dehumidification Sequence

  • The Prodigy™ unit controller initiates dehumidification when the room temperature is satisfactory but humidity is above the desired setpoint.
  • The fans and compressors are started and both the reheat and evaporator coils are activated.
  • The mixed indoor/outdoor air is cooled and dehumidified as it passes through the evaporator coil.
  • The cooled and dehumidified air is heated back to near room temperature as it passes through the hot-gas reheat coil.
  • The unit will continue to operate in this mode until the dehumidification demand is satisfied.

Two-Compressor Dehumidification Sequence

  • The Prodigy™ unit controller initiates dehumidification when the room temperature is satisfactory but humidity is above the desired setpoint.
  • The fans and compressors are started and both the reheat and evaporator coils are activated.
  • The mixed indoor/outdoor air is cooled and dehumidified as it passes through the evaporator coil.
  • The cooled and dehumidified air is heated back to near room temperature as it passes through the hot-gas reheat coil.
  • The unit will continue to operate in this mode until the dehumidification demand is satisfied.
